My resolve has strengthened in the last few weeks: Yogendra Yadav

Yogendra Yadav had a Google Hangout with his party volunteers on April 11, 10pm, his first such interaction after this crisis erupted. Express Today shares with you some excerpts from the Hangout

Last 3 years of the movement have seen tremendous achievements. We’ve seen that idealism & volunteerism is still alive and thriving. We’ve seen that the political establishment is much more fragile than we think. We’ve also seen that people are willing to give us a chance.

Apart from these achievements we’ve also seen challenges. We’ve seen that the pathology & ills of Indian politics have affected us as well. We’ve seen that diseases like personality cult, concentrating of power, resorting to all kinds of means to get success have affected us.

If we don’t guard ourselves from these diseases & pathological disorders of politics, we can easily slip into becoming like any other political party. It’s a moment of introspection. The challenge is how do we go back to the original spirit of the movement and how do we carry it forward.

This whole quest of success at ANY COST doesn’t make a good political party. For the party that we want us to be, we want unity and we also want integrity. We just cannot compromise on our integrity to attain success. If we are doing so, we are actually telling the country that look, it isn’t possible to be successful without being like the BJP, Congress or other parties.

Its true that only idealism, not backed by energy, organisational work & strategy is not enough. But organisational work doesn’t mean unethical ways. Strategy doesn’t mean moral compromise. If we say that its necessary to become successful, we are in a way saying that its not possible to be successful without being like other parties.

I really don’t know how much would #SwarajSamwad undo the current mess. Idea is to bring in volunteers who have been angry, disturbed & anguished at the recent developments.

I know there’s a strong sense of disillusionment & disenchantment. I know of party members who feel cheated & devastated. Recent developments have been hard. I know many of our volunteers are dejected & have given up. Some have lost hope & gone back.

To all of them, I would say this is exactly the moment for a stronger resolve. This is not the time to give up. If we give up today, we would make it tough for anyone in future to dream of an alternative. So I urge you all not to give up on the hope. Lets carry that dream forward.

I can assure you that events of last few weeks have strengthened my resolve multiple times. Jai Hind!

It is an initiative in right direction, one may believe that being successful is what matters and one must not miss an opportunity that comes one’s way to be successful. The manipulation, compromise, arrogance that was meant to be fought has in fact overpowered Kejriwal and he believes that being in power is what matters and anything that comes in one’s way must be dealt with, means does not matter. Dirty hands cannot clean dirty politics and group or individual compromising on principle loses the path one had made for oneself. Yogendra Yadav, Prashant Bhushan and others are the candle bearers of Politics that is meant to make people aware of their situation and usher in alternative Politics.
